The Hall Ride 23 Apr 2009

As a member of the Australian Goldwing Riders Club you can volunteer to organize a monthly ride. With doing so, when we go & enjoy this day with fellow riders you are requested to write a little story. This is our story of our ride in April which was based on our other life (dancing).

The Hall Ride

Roughly 830 we arrived at BP Stapleton to find half a dozen or more bikes waiting & all outside rearing to get started.

Nine o'clock comes so off we go.... 12 Wings with 18 people.

We started off by heading back through Mt Warren to my favorite bit of local road, Gardiner Road, top of the hills back of Beenleigh.

Riding through more back roads to Logan Village, we turned right into Anzac Ave & out through to Chambers Flat Road where a few more lefts rights were taken onto more back roads too numerous to name. Finally ending up at Greenbank. Here a planned U- turn was made which bought us back past the school I went to in 1954-57. Travelling through more back roads to New Beith past a hall where I used to go Sunday school (don't laugh)

Back up Pub Lane & onto Teviot Road, with still more back roads though to Flagstone Creek, finally reaching the, Mt Lindsay Highway at Jimboomba for about 500 metres where we turned off onto Millstream Road.

Our tail end Charlie, Paul (good job Paul) was caught at lights so there was a short wait for him to catch up.

Still on back roads past the Veresdale Hall (one of the many we dance at.) & then onto very pretty park in Beaudesert where we stopped for smoko. We grabbed a table next to Dr Urguart Band Stand, (named after the doctor who bought me into the world (I was born in Beanie)

Back on the Mt Lindsay Highway we ride to Tamrookum Hall, (yes dancing here too) turning left at the hail on more country roads through to Hillview. Passing the Hillview Hall, (we dance here also) up over a very narrow winding mountain road & down the other side. To the right was a sign to the Lost World bringing comments about being lost & why it was named that way. We will investigate.

We weren't going to going to get lost so we turned left back we travel back through to Darlington Park & onto Kerry, where, you guessed it, another Hall we dance at, this bought us back through Beaudesert, completing as some on commented, "one hell of a U-turn"

Doing a'righty at Beaudesert & on to Tambourine Village Rd, then another righty onto more back roads to Canungra.. _

And then we take a left up to Tamborine via the goat track & finally stopping at the busy St Bernard's Hotel for lunch. Although it was very busy, 18 people were fed & ready to go in just over an hour. We were served good food with fast and efficient service. The scenery is always great from up here.... Many thanks to the chef & his staff....

During our lunch break the raffle was drawn.... lst prize was won by Scott & 2nd won by Rusty & Marie.... All fed & watered we headed down through Eagle Heights on to Upper Ormeau past the School of Arts Hall. (Yes you guessed it, we dance here to). More back roads coming out at Pimpama. To the left, yes, Pimpama Hall (yes more dancing here).... Up over the highway to the Strawberry Farm to enjoy, of course, a strawberry ice cream & the like. We didn't take any photo's here, so that those who couldn't make it wouldn't be envious.

Going by comments & thank yours at the end of the day we all had a very enjoyable ride trough cattle country. (I know I certainly enjoyed it.) It was a beautiful day for riding & with good food & great company it was in my view a tremendous day.

Thanks to everyone who came along. We were pleasantly surprised at the turnout.
