Social
7 Bikes, Winston & Jan, Val & Ray, Eric & Deb, Trevor & Lee, Bill & Mary,
Phil & Vicki, and Annette & Larry.
Meeting at Shell Nudgee 6:00 for 6:30 pm. Departure. – Larry & I arrived first &
was greeted by a stranger. His opening words were “why would you want to buy one
of these”, with that, I replied “cause we can” Then he confesses he has just
bought an 1800 just a few weeks ago, & couldn’t be happier. They chatted for a
while then Larry gave him a AWRA card to check out our web site etc.... Trevor &
Lee, Phil & Vicki had arrived by this & he delighted in chatting & checking
their bikes over before moving on..... Meeting at servo’s like we do is always a
way of attracting new members.
Once everyone had arrived & had the usual cuppa & social catch up, mounted our
bikes & followed Winston through the city to the Garden Restaurant at West
End... Lucky for us Winston had organised a park for our bikes.... It’s usually
always full up for parking in the city & in the yuppie suburbs.
Once seated at the restaurant I received an anonymous phone call from who knows
who, or so I thought. Yes, it was Mary from across the table, thought she would
play a trick on me because I wasn’t close enough to talk to her..... all good
fun..!!!
Excellent Food with a variety of food carvings as centre pieces. Some people are
very clever, I feel it’s the little things like that, that count.
Another good night social was enjoyed for those who attended, even though it was
organised at the last minute. Maybe in the future we can try to organise socials
a little earlier.
Cheers
